Threaded Adaptors
A tapered thread becomes smaller in diameter the further you travel down the part, whereas a parallel thread maintains a consistent diameter all the way down the part.
When connecting plastic threads to create a pressure-tight seal via wedging, a tapered male into a parallel female or a parallel male into a parallel female is required (shown in diagram).
Pipe Clips – Loose vs fixed
Plastic pipe should be installed using supports designed for use with plastics and should then be installed taking care not to damage or overstress the pipe.
There are two commonly used supports: Fixed and Loose.
Firstly, lets look at pipe movement inside the brackets (depicted in the image below), followed by the design implications this has for plastic expansion.
